SINGAPORE – SURABAYA – BONDOWOSO

Fly directly from Singapore Changi Airport to Juanda International Airport in Surabaya. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our friendly local tour guide before embarking on a comfortable drive to Bondowoso (approximately 7 hours). Enjoy scenic views along the way, with planned breaks for lunch and tea, ensuring a relaxed and pleasant journey to your hotel.

Day 02

BONDOWOSO – IJEN CRATER – LUMAJANG

Start the day with an early wake-up call around 2 am as we prepare for an unforgettable Ijen crater experience. A comfortable 45-minute drive brings you to the Ijen ranger post at the trailhead, where your trek begins. Over the next 1 to 1.5 hours, you’ll ascend to the crater rim, greeted by spectacular views of the vast volcanic crater and its mesmerizing turquoise sulfur lake—one of nature’s most striking sights. From this dramatic vantage point, you will also see local sulfur miners in action—people who work tirelessly in challenging conditions to extract sulfur and carry heavy loads back up the mountain. Their strength and resilience form part of Ijen’s compelling story, creating a truly authentic experience. After enjoying the sunrise and taking in the breathtaking panorama, you will continue your journey with a scenic transfer to your hotel in Lumajang, which takes approximately 4 hours by road.

For guests who wish to see the rare blue fire phenomenon closer up, an earlier departure around 12 am–1 am can be arranged. Please confirm this with your guide the night before so we can tailor the experience to your preference.

Day 03

LUMAJANG – TUMPAK SEWU – CEMORO LAWANG

After breakfast and checking out from your hotel, you will set off for one of Indonesia’s most breathtaking natural wonders—Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, also known as Coban Sewu. This extraordinary waterfall plunges 120 meters in a majestic semi‑circular curtain, creating the illusion of a thousand waterfalls flowing at once, framed against lush ridges with Mount Semeru rising proudly in the distance. Your first highlight is the panoramic viewpoint, where you’ll be greeted by an awe‑inspiring vista—perfect for photos and soaking in the sound of cascading water. From there, you have the option to descend to Goa Tetes, a serene waterfall and freshwater pool where you can unwind and enjoy a refreshing dip amidst nature’s symphony. After your waterfall adventure and lunch, enjoy a scenic drive to your resort in Cemoro Lawang (approximately 2.5 hours’ drive), where the dramatic landscapes of Mount Bromo await you next.

Overnight: Resort in Cemoro Lawang

Day 04

MOUNT BROMO – SURABAYA

You will receive an early morning wake‑up call at around 3 am to prepare for a magical Mount Bromo sunrise experience. From your accommodation, an exciting 4WD jeep ride will take you up winding volcanic tracks to the renowned Penanjakan viewpoint at the edge of the Tengger Crater Rim (about 2,770 m), where you will be perfectly positioned to witness one of Java’s most breathtaking sunrises. Watch in awe as golden light spreads across the dramatic volcanic landscape, highlighting Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the distant Mount Semeru. After the sunrise, your adventure continues as you travel in the 4WD across the surreal Sea of Sand (Lautan Pasir) toward Pura Luhur Poten, a serene Tenggerese Hindu temple nestled beside Mount Bromo. From here, you have two great options to reach the base of Mount Bromo: a scenic 3 km walk across volcanic plain or a pony ride, both leading to the iconic staircase. Once at the stairs, a climb of about 253 steps brings you up to the crater rim, where you will be rewarded with incredible close‑up views of the active volcano and its powerful natural beauty. After this unforgettable encounter with Bromo’s raw landscape, you will head back to your vehicle for the transfer to Surabaya Airport for your flight home. If time permits, your guide can also arrange a visit to a popular local attraction such as House of Sampoerna before your departure.

Notes

1) Single supplement is subjected to availability at SGD 110 extra. For solo participants, we will match you with another participant of the same gender.

2) For arrival flights, please only take one of the possible flights provided due to the long drive to Ijen area. There will only be 1 pickup point (at the airport) in the morning of day 1. For departure flight, we will only provide one airport transfer from the Surabaya Hotel at 7am in the morning to be in time for the Scoot flight. It is possible for customer to take a later flight (e.g. the SIA flight). This means that the customer will sight-see Surabaya on his/her own and transfer to the airport on his/her own on day 4 of the trip. Price remains the same.

3) Whole group will depart from Ijen View Hotel at around 130am. This timing makes it possible to head down the crater for closer view of the blue flame. For those who do not wish to hike down the crater, you can rest at coffee place on the crater.

4) Your slot is only confirmed after you received an email from us with registration and payment instructions and you have performed the given instructions before deadline.  Failure to do so will have your open trip registration removed so other interested participants can sign up. This also allows us to know the committed group size and if the open trip can proceed. Initial payment required is 50% of the trip price. Full refund of this deposit payment will be given if the open trip did not meet the minimum group size. Balance payment is required one month before trip departure date.  We will regularly update the status of the trip on this page.

5) As this is an open trip, itinerary is fixed. In case you prefer to customise your itinerary, we recommend that you book a private tour with us.

6) Travel insurance is excluded in the tour package. We highly recommend all travelers to purchase comprehensive travel insurance. You may want to go through our travel insurance page where you can purchase travel insurance from Chubb or Worldnomads directly online. Be sure to go through the brochure and policy wording before purchase.  You may also purchase travel insurance from your preferred insurer.

In case you have any questions, you can sign up for the open trip first and contact us at .

TIPS FOR YOUR TRIP:

1. Do remember to bring along your winter wear (fleece jacket, scarf, beanie, gloves) as it gets really really cold and windy in the wee hours. Dress in layers so you can remove them easily after the sun comes out.

2. Due to the dust and sulphur at Mt Bromo and Ijen Crater, our guide will bring along basic disposal face masks for everybody. But it will be advisable to higher quality masks (e.g. N95 Air+) on your own. If you are taking the optional hike down Ijen Crater, the extra cost comes with the rental of a gas mask.

3. You may get wet at the waterfalls. So bring along appropriate footwear (e.g. wet shoes, avoid footwear with poor grip) and clothing (towel). Disposable poncho will be provided. Waterproof your gears such as camera as well. Should you require, there will be a place to change into dry clothing after a visit to the waterfalls.

4. Bring a torch light (or use your mobile phone app) for the early morning Mt Bromo and Ijen Crater sunrise, head lamp will be good as it leaves your hands free.

5. Reaching Ijen crater requires a 2-3 hour hike so if you do not exercise regularly, do take the time to train up to make it more comfortable experience.

6. The accommodations at Mt Bromo and Ijen Crater are in the countryside so they are generally more basic and comfort level are not as high as the hotels in cities.

7. As there long road journeys on windy roads, please bring along car sickness or motion sickness medicines if you need them. During the journey, do request our guide to make frequent stops for rest.

8. Due to the distances between sights, early wake-ups and the many sights to visit, most people will find the itinerary rather tiring. Do rest early at night.

9. While meals in the countryside can be basic, once you reach the city like Surabaya, you will find many good restaurants. Our local guide will be able to give good recommendations based on your preference or you can consider some of the restaurants listed in our FAQs.

10. For amount of IDR to bring, IDR 1,500,000 should be more than enough each person for meals (6 meals of IDR 100,000 to IDR 150,000 each), IDR 200,000 for optional hike down Ijen crater and some spare cash. Bring more cash if you intend to do some shopping.
